Best Local Beer

Resurrection Ale, The Brewer's Art

Posted 9/17/1997

We were all set to hand this one to Brimstone's fine Stone Beer, a thoroughly worthy quaff made by a thoroughly worthy company. (Brimstone gets props for taking over the old National brewery in Highlandtown and keeping a hunk of Baltimore's beer-making tradition alive.) But all that changed when we got Resurrected down in The Brewer's Art's basement batcave bar, when we first drank this astounding "dubble" (a dark, malty, Belgian-style ale). This stuff is ambrosia-velvet-smooth, but with a sharp bite and a creamy, honey-toned taste that's as fully rounded as the broad goblet in which it's served. You've heard of ear candy? This is beer candy.
