Best Happy Hour
The Brass Elephant
924 N. Charles St., (410) 547-8480
This is not your frat brother's happy hour. Forget the chicken wings and pitchers of beer. There's no sports on the television in the corner; for that matter, there's no television in the corner. The Brass Elephant's happy hour is reminiscent of the cocktail hours enjoyed by civilized folk in black-and-white movies. Conversation is hushed, the tables small and intimate, and the mood is refined. The Brass Elephant meets all of the requirements for a good happy hour-two-for-one drinks and free food (albeit not of the standard bar variety)-and while the atmosphere's civilized, it's not trendy or elitist. This is the attitude all of those martini bars hope to cultivate. Why not go for the real thing?
