Wells Discount Liquors

6310 York Road, (410) 435-2700

Posted 9/22/2004

Maybe it’s the uniformed staffers who walk the aisles, looking to instruct that hapless customer who doesn’t know a Chardonnay from a Chenin Blanc. Maybe it’s the helpers who mysteriously appear at the checkout counter to sack your order, even if it’s just a bottle or two. It very likely has to do with the cozy cellar set aside for hard-to-find French wines, as well as the selection of delectable cheeses chilling in the back. All we know is that everything put together makes Wells Discount Liquors the well that Baltimoreans keep returning to for their thirst-slaking needs. Got a thing for select silver rum? They got you covered. Hankering for an even sleeker tequila? No sweat. Need to find out, 10 minutes before your dinner guests are set to arrive, what the difference is between Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer? They’re your go-to guys. And all this knowledge comes with both prices and an atmosphere that put bargain stores and ritzy booze boutiques alike to shame. The folks at Wells would probably do everything to juice up your soiree or intimate dinner short of drinking the stuff for you. Though they do seem like they’d be pretty fun to party with.
