Best Jukebox
The Ottobar
2549 N. Howard St., (410) 662-0069, Web site
Simply put: There is no suck here. It has Iggy and Bowie, the White Stripes’ Elephant and Atmosphere’s Seven’s Travels, and something called Doob Doob O’Rama (Tunes From Bollywood), which is just bongwater cool. There’s PJ Harvey for the angsty kid who wants to depress everyone in the bar, a fine assortment of greatest hits collections, including the Buzzcocks’ Singles Going Steady, the Cure (the good one with “Boys Don’t Cry”), the Clash, New Order, and more. Local favorites—Two if by Sea and the Oranges Band—are also well represented, and there’s even some Joy Division and Smiths for the sullen bastard in the corner.
