Best Caribbean: Caribbean Kitchen
353 N. Calvert St., (410) 837-2274
We know—this restaurant has won Best of Baltimore four times before. But it’s really hard to improve upon perfection. Its melt-in-your-mouth crust-covered patty dishes—filled with jerk chicken, beef, or light tasty veggies—transport us back to our Jamaican vacation. We can’t help it if that’s how the Caribbean Kitchen makes us feel year after year. And we can’t help it that when we take a few bites of the rice and peas and plantain, it calls our name softly, yet insistently—like the subliminal message contained in the Red Stripe cardboard cutout that stands near Caribbean Kitchen’s service window, which makes us want to chase our meal with as many Red Stripes as we can get our hands on. None of that really matters. What does matter is that CK is still the best.
