We were going to say Chez Joey, just to be funny. But then we thought, Why don’t we send tourists someplace we know they’ll be handled graciously and leave thinking better of our fair city (and come back to drop more bucks here) but where they won’t bother any of us locals? James Joyce, where we’ve been known to throw back a few, employs authentically garrulous bartenders that make all visitors feel welcome; the bar food is decent, and the new outdoor patio is an oasis in that spooky new Inner Harbor East neighborhood that tourists are now increasingly being coerced to visit. Granted, it’s not quite homegrown (the owners are from Virginia), but on the other hand, no one’s likely to have their shoes vomited on
