We understand that some things are harder to sell than others. To convince people to doubt their children’s parentage, for instance, requires a skilled advertising campaign. Surely no one understands this better than BRT Laboratories. On westbound 40 in East Baltimore stands BRT’s latest billboard, an enormous rendition of the sexy beach scene in From Here to Eternity, this time starring jaundiced-looking cartoon characters pawing at each other while rolling around in the surf. The image is paired with the nonsensical slogan from here to paternity.

It’s brilliant advertising. Why? Because you’ll stare at this damn thing for 10 minutes trying to come to grips with the fact that someone put this into the world, and in that time it will be burned into your brain forever. And the next time you find yourself gazing at your son thinking, I don’t know, my hair was never that particular shade of brown, you’ll remember who to turn to.
