Best Brunch
Ze Mean Bean Café
1739 Fleet St., (410) 675-5999
The jazz brunch at Ze Mean Bean used to require us to shout at our dining companions, which struck us as a little too much activity for a Sunday morning. But since the Bean now offers dining on its second floor, we can enjoy the music as it wafts upstairs without sacrificing our vocal cords. It also means we can enjoy the wonderful brunch menu, which includes all of the usuals as well as inspired specialties such as a brie-and-pear omelet. Given the elegant setting and the solicitous service, this Fells Point bistro more resembles a fine-dining establishment than the coffee shop it once was, but order a wake-up espresso and you'll see that the Bean hasn't strayed too far from its roots.
