Best Hamburger
Alonso's
415 W. Cold Spring Lane, (410) 235-3433
We are beginning to think seriously about retiring this category, or even naming it the "Alonso Award," because, frankly, there really is no better burger in this town than the ones served up at this Roland Park joint. Where else can you demand a pound of flesh (in some cases a pound and a half) and actually get it? We asked our server not to even bother giving us anything on our big burgers but cheese and the kaiser roll. If we were looking for salad, we would have gone elsewhere. The one-pound burger will run you about $10, while the gargantuan pound and a half sandwich will cost you nearly $12. Worth it? You bet. Alonso's knows a thing or two about how to cook a burger--none of that wimpy, crusty, overcooked beef-jerky patty here. This baby comes out a perfect medium rare. For those restaurants looking to break into this category we have one bit of advice: Go to Alonso's, and take notes.
