Sometimes you want your bar to be a burrow: you know, some dim subterranean space set back just that little extra bit from the world. These are the places that you might not know about unless you're a regular, or maybe wander in looking desperately for a bathroom. You've probably had meals a stone's throw from Liam's--Mount Vernon Stable, Never on Sunday, Mughal Garden, and plenty of others surround it--and never noticed it was there. For one, it's relatively invisible from the street--a storefront window gives a view of the one upstairs table--and, two, it's tiny. As in, with room for about 20 people, don't plan on having a birthday party here--though if you keep it small there's a tiny room just off the main bar area (think in terms of closet to bedroom space ratio). An upshot of this is you'll never have to wait long for a drink. Just don't expect to have much room to keep to yourself among a crowd of younger, hip-but-not-too-hip drinkers. And keeping with our running tally of Natty Boh prices, we're pleased to announce a new low: Liam's serves 'em for a buck a can.
