Ah, the quintessential college bar, chock-full of scantily clad sweaty coeds. What's not to love? Favorites Pub, known to its patrons as "Craig's"--the bar's name before it changed ownership over a decade ago--is just the right mix of cheap drinks and friendly jock service. The large upstairs bar features several standard beers on tap and quick bartenders that know how to whip up a mean Jägerbomb. On busy nights it can be tough to get a drink, and so they usually open the downstairs and deck bars. Thank God for the deck, which provides a sanctuary for smokers, as well as an escape from the perspiring young man trying to grind you up against the video game machine by the makeshift dance floor. Nightly specials, like tacos on Tuesday with $5 Natty Boh pitchers, along with beer pong tournaments, keep the crowds packed in. For a $1 cover it's a pretty decent bargain. If day drinking is more your speed, be sure to attend Favorites' biannual outdoor "Craig's Fest." It's like Christmas for college kids, on Oct. 4. For $30 you get all the beer you can stomach, or not stomach, from noon to 9 p.m. After a few 32-ounce cups of cheap light pilsner, you'll be riding the mechanical bull before sundown, or at least watching some drunk girls make out on it.
