It's hard finding a deal in the upscale Baltimore neighborhood that a certain first daughter calls home. But dollar domestic drafts on Thursdays at Federal Hill's Mad River Bar and Grille are a steal. The mostly young and attractive clientele gathers in mobs for a fun night on the cheap. Shots can get pricey though--$18 for three red-headed sluts? Stick with the low-cost brews, offered at all three bars, and you won't be forced into becoming the human form of the drink--regardless of hair color--batting your eyelashes for cab fare. The former bank's aqua walls are adorned with skis, sleds, and an ominously suspended canoe. It is the third in a chain of bars inspired by the ski paradise Mad River Valley in Vermont. The Fed Hill hub acts as an excellent pregame to skiing season, or as a Nicorette patch-like faux lodge for those too busy or coordination-challenged to hit the slopes. Shimmy your frost bite away to present pop and hip-hop hits on one of the two expansive dance floor or cozy up in one of the VIP booths conveniently adjacent to the DJ (which can be reserved for free--just call ahead).
