Why We Go: Because we'd rather stay mom-and-pop for our fast, affordable grub.

What We Eat: This longtime Hopkins undergraduate standby offers the typical cheese steaks, sandwiches, and gyros fare of any other takeout counter, but its small Korean menu is what to go for here. It's hearty bi bim bap comes served in a stainless-steel bowl with a rainbow of fresh and pickled veggies, some dried seaweed, some hot spiced beef, and topped with a fried egg--there is also a tasty vegetarian version.

What We'd Change: Being open on Sunday would be nice.
