Why We Go: The friendly, welcoming service and the cozy, intimate atmosphere accentuate some of the best Indian food in town.

What We Eat: The chicken vindaloo and channa masala, extra spicy--with the waiter and cooks checking and rechecking that we're sure we want it extra spicy--and the malai kofta. We also like that Akbar serves its sweet dessert balls warm instead of at room temperature.

What We'd Change: The ever-fluctuating lunch buffet selection keeps things interesting, but how can you leave out staples such as chicken tikka masala so often?
