You know the food is good when you don't care that you're sucking on chicken bones in a very public place. Located in that odd little food court next to the Super Fresh at Charles and Saratoga streets, the yummy aromas pouring off Mango & Coconut Juice Bar's grill promise something a bit different from the Jamaican food norm. Sure, it offers those tasty patties in beef ($1.50) and veggie ($1.85) varieties, but the fine folk here also carry soy ($2) and salmon ($2.65) patties, too. Better yet, go ahead and order a familiar dish: a small jerk chicken ($7.65) comes with rice and beans and spicy steamed veggies (cabbage, some carrots, zucchini, and a potato slice or two) in an ample serving that makes you fear the size of the large. And that chicken--coated in a smoky, piquant rub with a heat that tickles the tongue and then doesn't linger, the moist leg and thigh meat also absorbed the spice's flavor on the grill. Way too much food for lunch, way too good to pass up.
