More on Mr. Yogato.

Baltimore isn't on the cutting edge of trends, so it seems appropriate that the city just recently got a trendy frozen yogurt shop. Mr. Yogato has it all over Pinkberry, though. Sure, there are some annoying things about it--like the cutesy rules that give you certain percentages off if you wear a yogato stamp on your head or recite the poison cup speech from The Princess Bride--but it also has a lot going for it. A fun, brightly colored dining area, an outrageously adorable mascot, a super sweet staff, the unassailable ability to get a Styx song stuck in your head, and most importantly frozen yogurt that actually tastes good. You can choose from creamy or tangy and two flavors of the month (May was strawberry and chocolate). A small fro-yo, which we found plenty large enough for a midday snack, is $3. Then, you add the toppings--$1 for one, $1.50 for two, and $1.75 for three--and there are a ton to choose from, everything from fruit to Fruity Pebbles, with stops at more expected toppings like chocolate chips, coconut, and nuts in between. Our small creamy with strawberries and Fruity Pebbles was delicious. It had a distinctive yogurt flavor while still having the sweetness we require and the Pebbles added a pleasant crunch. The Fells Point Mr. Yogato is actually the second location--the original is in D.C.--but it could become a local institution in no time.
