If there is one thing we like more than delicious sugary treats, it's a good yarn. Our visit to Charm City Cupcakes in Brown's Arcade on Charles Street provided both. The man that greeted us at the small counter, identified himself as the uncle of the owner. He said his niece, Sandra Long, asked him to cover the shop for two hours one day and he's been there five days a week since. Charm City Cupcakes-not affiliated with Charm City Cakes-couldn't ask for a better front man, he had us smiling during our whole visit. The smiles persisted after we left with one red velvet and one vanilla with praline drizzle ($2.50 each). We were told to come early in the day for the biggest selection of flavors, but both our picks were stellar. The red velvet cake was moist and flavorful. The icing on top was creamy deliciousness, if a bit crispy, perhaps due to our late arrival. The praline drizzle was the showstopper, though. It was like having a little cake with pecan pie on top, which is pretty much our idea of heaven.
