Green Harbor Café
The Green Harbor Café is a cafeteria-style restaurant that offers a little bit of everything, and sells it by the pound. While the café sports a wide variety of sandwiches, the buffet is where it's at--for $4.59 a pound, you can span the culinary map and stuff yourself silly. The usual salad-bar items sit beside traditional comfort foods like mashed potatoes with beef gravy, corn beef and cabbage, and yams, as well as Asian favorites like sweet and sour chicken, sesame noodles, and California rolls.
Surprisingly, everything we've tried is tasty. The sesame green beans are crisp, the yams are sweet and hearty, and the orange chicken has a slightly spicy kick. And the soft yellow walls, comfortable wooden tables and chairs, and classical music tinkling serenely in the background make for a pleasant respite from the craziness of Charles Street. But the best thing about this restaurant is never having to decide what kind of food you're in the mood for before heading out to lunch--Green Harbor has it all.
