A group of international investigators come together to catch a thief of world treasures who has come out of hiding for the first time in decades to steal the Pink Panther, a huge pink diamond. As Inspector Jacques Clouseau, Steve Martin returns to his comedic roots of physical comedy, silly French accents, and misunderstandings, and the detectives joining him in the investigative "Dream Team" are equally inept: Ponton (Jean Reno), Vicenzo (Andy Garcia), Pepperidge (Alfred Molina), Kenji (Yuki Matsuzaki), and the stunning Aishwarya Rai as Sonia. Lily Tomlin plays Mrs. Berenger, a human resources killjoy hired to keep Clouseau from getting sued for sexist and racist remarks; Emily Mortimer plays Clouseau amour and assistant Nicole in lovely girly skirts and cardigans; and John Cleese plays Clouseau's boss Chief Inspector Dreyfus. The movie's colors are nice, and the costume designer had some fun with Clouseau's shortened trousers and the blue/tan color scheme, but chasing after the bad guy while tripping up, falling down, flirting with your assistant, and disappointing your country feels a little too close for comfort. Much like the dream team, here's a group of supposed talent pissing it all away. Please actors, make like the actual cartoon feline and slink away before they catch you and make you film PP3.
