Another movie from a Saturday Night Live sketch, this time set free from the constraints of Network Television and the usual PG-13 rating of Guaranteed Comedy Safety and Mediocrity, because this incarnation of SNL's seemingly endless goof on the late-’80s/early-’90s MacGyver TV series is sporting a big, hard R, for "strong crude and sexual content, violence, language and some nudity," and it's all for cheap laughs, which equal: Laughs. Will Forte stars and successfully bathes himself in Crude Content as the titular ass-kicking hero; Kristen Wiig represents as Vicki St. Elmo, his faithful, frustrated, feathered-hair sidekick; and Ryan Phillippe, as Lt. Dixon Piper, makes a move on the Hollywood Career Chessboard to get something, anything, started it seems. C'mon, he's in a movie where the Bad Guy is named Dieter Von Cunth, played by the always excellent Val Kilmer, whose entire career proves he does not give a fuck what you think, and he takes many shots, low in the brow, as it were, to deliver explosive and tasteless laughs. Also featuring: the funniest fuck-sequence since Showgirls.
