Destroy All Monsters (1969)

By Joe MacLeod | Posted

Sure, you might know it as Kaijû sôshingeki, but over here in the U.S. of A. it's 1969's Destroy All Monsters, baby. Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and a whole mess of other more useless monsters are all penned up on Monster Island until the evil Kilaak aliens (sort of a Mysterians rip-off) figure out a way to control them all and, most importantly, to get Godzilla to attack the city!!! Aieee! Kyôko Ai, in the role of a lifetime, plays the Kilaak Queen, and she gets to wear tiny little wraparound futuristic sunglasses like all aliens are gonna wear in the year 1999 until the heroic earthlings attack the Kilaak HQ and convince Godzilla to kick King Ghidorah's three-headed dragon ass. And Baby Godzilla blows a smoke ring. Creepy.
