Cute, annoying, and juvenile, but with the most generically attractive young actors since, well, since the last teenybopperish film. Accent-free West Virginian best-friend threesome Rosalee Futch (Kate Bosworth), Cathy Feely (Ginnifer Goodwin), and Pete Monash (That '70s Show's Topher Grace) work at Piggly Wiggly as checkout girls and Mr. Young Manager Man. The virginal Rosalee wins a date with her film idol, Tad Hamilton (hunky Josh Duhamel), who's trying to change his bad boy image by going on this fan date to raise charity money. Rosalee arrives in Los Angeles costumed in a pair of Mon Petit Oiseau jeans--what the hell?--and bores Tad to tears over dinner. No, wait, she bored us to tears. Tad falls in love with her; Rosalee is such an excitable dimwit that she falls for him too, until Pete finally tells her how he has felt for 22 years. Right. Tad's manager (Nathan Lane) and publicist (Sean Hayes)--both named Richard Levy--are funnier than anyone else. But no way are we going on another date with Tad.
