Big Fat Liar

Big Fat Liar

Director:Shawn Levy
Cast:Frankie Muniz, Paul Giamatti, Amanda Bynes
Genre:Film, Comedy

By Adele Marley | Posted

The Player meets Pinocchio in this idiotic, confoundingly inconsistent family comedy, in which a pathologically deceitful preteen (Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz) finds himself in deep shit when his middle-school term paper accidentally falls into the hands of an egomaniacal Hollywood director (a wasted Paul Giamatti), who uses the manuscript as a basis for his latest blockbuster. You really don't expect much from a film that would, as a selling point and without irony, feature a rash of cameos by the most irritating small-screen supporting players since Scrappy Doo (Saved by the Bell's Dustin "Screech" Diamond and Family Matters' Jaleel "Urkel" White, among others). Still, Big Fat Liar shoots so low that it's more an annoyance than a disappointment.
