The Fast and the Furious
It's the summer film season's first respectable piece of mindless moviegoing. Put your brain in neutral, take your foot off the brakes, and let the disturbing and top-billed Vin Diesel (Pitch Black) do the driving, in the person of one Dominic Toretto, sweaty ringleader of a faction of nitro-burning, testosterone-injected Los Angeles street-rod racers. Riding shotgun is Paul Walker (Varsity Blues) as Brian O'Conner, a streak-haired pretty boy attempting to insinuate himself into the subculture of illegal auto racing and into the panties of Dominic's sister Mia (Jordana Brewster). But wait, there's more, like, plot and stuff, but it simply provides padding between the mind-bending racing scenes--where, thanks to movie magic, a quarter-mile ride in a modified import approaches the traditional Star Wars leap into hyperspace. Buckle up.
