We seriously kept expecting Manic Panic blue-streaked Tibby (Joan of Arcadia’s Amber Tamblyn) to think her 12-year old pain-in-the-ass but sick-with-the-leukemia-so-that’s-sad friend Bailey (Jenna Boyd) is God, and always-in-a-summer-skirt Lena (The Gilmore Girls’ Alexis Bledel) doesn’t call her mom Lorelai, so yeah, the TV stars were sort of distracting. Thankfully, however, this plot is not hard to follow: Four bestest friends buy a pair of “pants” (they’re Levi’s, for fuck’s sake—why do they call them “pants” all the freakin’ time?) to share among their Forever 21-sized asses. Why? ’Cause they are embarking on a summer apart from one another, and the “pants” go into rotation. The aforementioned Lena goes to Greece to draw; Tibby stays in their hometown of Bethesda, working at the Wallmans superstore and making a suckumentary; feisty and full-flavored Carmen (the talented America Ferrera) visits her shithole of a suburbanite father; and long and blond Bridget (Blake Lively) goes to Mexican soccer camp and scores.
