Director Rob Cohen (XXX, The Fast and the Furious) pulls back hard on his joystick with a forgettable but fun testosterone-powered, estrogen-ready sci-fi flyboy and -girl flick all about the next generation of air combat and, hey, something that could go mighty fucking wrong when next-generation computo-flying-machines are on the front line instead of the regular human narcissist jet-jockeys who don’t think they’re ever gonna die. It’s like, think about that teevee series with David Hasselhoff and the talking car, and just imagine what that Pontiac woulda done if it had some balls and a coupla missiles that go boom, umkay? Starring Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama, Hulk), as the head hero-fighter-pilot-guy; Oscar winner Jamie Foxx (Ray), doing no harm to his bank account or rep in the role of, well, yeah, sidekick-hero-fighter-pilot-guy; and bringing up the rear of the flight formation, Jessica Biel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blade: Trinity), showing off her own next-generation fuselage in a strategic Bikini Moment and stealing the picture in an ohh-shiiiiiiiiit worst case scenario midair bad day at the fighter pilot office sequence.
