"D.M.V."--to denote "D.C., Maryland, and Virginia"--is a bullshit term, in part because it sounds boring. Throw three bright, different colors into a bucket together and odds are pretty good you're going to get something that looks like baby vomit. And all three of those lumped uncomfortably in the "D.M.V." have wildly unique musical styles, cultural histories, and so on. D.M.V. just makes it sound like none of the three cities--areas, whatever--could hack it on its own in the rap world. Which is, of course, untrue. Anyhow, Baltimore gets a powerful showing in this posse cut backed up by Washington, D.C.'s DJ Gemini, delivering a dump-truck load of a beat and, well, it sounds good and not particularly like everyone is competing for air or cluttered together. Some of the rapping is pretty look-at-me mixed with city and/or D.M.V. repping, but it's cool to hear all of these guys with their very different styles and flows fleshed out right next to each other like a regional Chamber of Commerce organized Wu-Tang Clan.
