And the band’s versatility—You want a jazzy shake with some Afro-Cuban backbeat or silken ballad spiked with ’70s brass? It’s all good—and overall uplifting vibe elevates this sextet above the typical R&B’s corny baby, baby, baby, baby, baby and it’s-all-about-me confessionals.
