The last two African-American Heritage Festivals brought a combined 700,000 people out in the summer sun to celebrate, appreciate, and congregate. This year promises record-breaking attendance thanks to booming entertainment (LL Cool J is in da house Saturday); foodstuffs of both the savory and sweet variety; a special children's area with, among other stuff, the Believe stage; the Education, Art, and History Tent with more than 60 exhibitors, including NASA and "Greek Row," which tells the story of Baltimore's fraternal history; the NAACP tent with voter registration; and vendors hawking everything from clothing to literature. We've done our best to give you details about the weekend below--it's up to you to show.

The festival takes place June 18-20 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and admission is free. And when you're looking at all the musical entertainments listed, check out the little circle/stars--they point out our favs. For more information, call (410) 318-8286 or visit
