This week five days passed in Baltimore City
without a homicide. This is only the second time this has happened this year.
Monday, Aug. 22
8 a.m. Carlton Crawford, an 81-year-old hearing-impaired African-American man, lived in a nursing home in the 3700 block of Greenspring Avenue in Northwest Baltimore’s Park Circle neighborhood. Crawford’s care provider went to his apartment to check on him and found Crawford lying on the floor next to his bed. He had been beaten to death. Crawford was the fifth person over the age of 60 murdered this year.
Sunday, Aug. 28
2:25 a.m. Donta Chandler, a 29-year-old African-American man, was at a party in the 1400 block of Mullikin Court in East Baltimore. Chandler and another person at the party got into an argument, and that person pulled out a gun and shot Chandler repeatedly. He was taken to nearby Johns Hopkins Hospital but died at 4:47 a.m.
