Best Cocktail Menu

518 N. Charles St., (410) 727-1800,

Posted 9/21/2005

Ice-cool Ixia keeps its 30-strong cocktail menu fresh, introducing brave new whirls and winnowing out the occasional stale and tired concoction. (Gone is the Absolut Peppar-based Zydeco Zinger with Tabasco-soaked olives.) Bar manager Brendan Dorr and tenders Eric Fooy and Pete Dixon contribute their own recipes while keeping their collective antennae tuned to such soon-to-be omnipresent trends as antioxidant-bearing green-tea pomegranate-based elixirs. Brand-new this fall is the hot-pink X-tasy, an insidiously frothy concoction of X-Rated Fusion Liqueur and Calpico, a popular Thai strawberry-yogurt-flavored soft drink, garnished with a slice of kumquat. Ixia’s no bargain, but for the occasional dress-up date night, the shimmering bar and lounge provide a cinematically smashing setting for getting smashed.
