10:34 p.m. A man was driving a hack cab in the Better Waverly neighborhood. He had three passengers in the car: two men and a woman. After the driver parked in the 600 block of East 27th Street, off Greenmount Avenue, one of the male passengers pulled out a handgun and opened fire while still inside the car, hitting the driver and both of the other passengers. He and the female passenger then got out of the car and fled the scene together. The woman went to Sinai Hospital, where she was treated and released. Both the driver and the other male passenger were taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital. The passenger is in stable condition. The driver, who was shot numerous times, died the next day at 11:08 a.m. Police are waiting until they have notified the driver’s family to release his name. This is the sixth murder in Better Waverly this year. Last year there were two.
