Murders This Year: 35

Wednesday, Feb. 8

3 a.m. Lamont Smith, a 21-year-old African-American man, died at Maryland Shock Trauma Center a week and a half after he was shot in the unit block of Goldsmith Alley. On Jan. 27, two men were walking in the 1900 block of West Lombard Street in Carrollton Ridge when they heard shots. The two men ran but ended up running into the shooters. One was shot in the leg, the other in the leg and back; both survived. The shots they heard were fired at Smith, who was hit in the back and taken to Shock Trauma. Charles Dennis, a 21-year-old African-American man, Donte Miller, a 27-year-old African-American man, and Michael Parker, a 23-year-old African-American man, were arrested and charged with the shootings. Smith is the second person murdered this year in Carrollton Ridge.

Friday, Feb. 10

1:49 p.m. Linwood Timmons, a 48-year-old African-American man, was found dead in his home in the 600 block of North Franklintown Road off Edmondson Avenue in Mosher. Timmons, who was last seen alive two days earlier, was found by his ex-girlfriend. They were supposed to see each other but Timmons never showed up, so his ex-girlfriend went to his home to look for him. She found him inside, and he had been shot repeatedly in the face. Police believe he had been dead for several hours. Another man was killed in January at Edmondson Avenue and Franklintown Roads.
