Murders The Week Of May 22: 8
Murders This Week: 4
Murders This Year: 113

Due to last week’s early deadline this column covers murders from May 27 to June 4. The May 28 death of Aruradha Ramasamy was ruled a homicide this week. On May 28 at 3:08 p.m. police got a call for a DOA in an apartment in the 300 block of West 31st Street in Remington, near Dizzy Issies bar. When police officers got there, a man told them that he had gone to his girlfriend’s apartment and found her hanging from a ceiling fan. He pulled her down and called 911. Ramasamy, a 26-year-old woman whose race has been listed by the police as “other,” had a cord wrapped around her neck when police arrived. But evidence later revealed that Ramasamy did not hang herself. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of her boyfriend. Ramasamy was the 14th female murdered this year.
