The name of the woman murdered May 28 in Remington was misspelled in last week’s column. Her name is Anuradha Ramasamy. Ramasamy’s murder was one of several closed June 6. Her boyfriend, Thomas Ryan, a 28-year-old Caucasian man, was arrested that day and charged with her murder.

Chris Ward, a 23-year-old African-American man from Darley Park, was arrested and charged with the Feb. 28 murders of Donte Bellamy and Duraye Cole. And Antoine Devonn, a 20-year-old African-American man, was arrested for the May 23 murder of Whitney Wiley.

Monday, June 5

1:49 a.m. Wayne Mathews, a 25-year-old African-American man, was at Club One when he got into an argument with some people in the VIP lounge. Mathews made a phone call and then left the club. A few minutes later, shots were fired in a parking lot in the 300 block of North Guilford Avenue near the club. Mathews had parked his car there. Mathews was shot and taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital. A 27-year-old African-American man who had also been shot in the incident walked into Mercy Hospital and was transferred to Maryland Shock Trauma Center. He survived. Mathews died at 2:26 a.m.

Wednesday, June 7

1:05 a.m. Marlow Hill, a 24-year-old African-American man, was shot in the head in the 1800 block of West Saratoga Street in Franklin Square. He died 20 minutes later at Shock Trauma.

Saturday, June 10

11:05 p.m. Antonio Alford, a 22-year-old African-American man, was found shot in the head in the second floor of an apartment building in the 5500 block of Haddon Avenue near the northwest city line. He was taken to Sinai Hospital. A second victim from the incident, a 24-year-old African-American man, walked into Sinai. He had been shot but survived. Alford died at 11:45 p.m.

Sunday. June 11

3:07 a.m. A 30-year-old African-American man was found lying in the street in the 1400 block of Aisquith Street in Oliver. He had been shot repeatedly and died at Hopkins Hospital half an hour later. Police are holding the victim’s name until they have notified his family. This is the third murder in Oliver in less than a month.

10:50 p.m. Darryl Duppins, a 24-year-old African-American man, was shot several times in the 1400 block of Presstman Street near the Western District police station in Sandtown Winchester. He died at Maryland General Hospital an hour later.

The average age of the homicide victims so far this year is 28.5.
