The person found shot on the sidewalk in front of the Royal Farms store in the 3300 block of East Fayette Street on Aug. 8 has been identified. The man, who had been shot repeatedly and died, was Rudy Guzman, a 22-year-old Hispanic man from the Ellwood Park/Monument neighborhood.

The death of Delawntae Finley, a 22-year-old African-American man, has been removed from the Baltimore Police Department homicide rolls. Finley was fatally shot on Aug. 29 in the 4200 block of Wabash Avenue. According to police, Finley and another man were trying to rob Joe's Garage at the time of the shooting. They allegedly approached the garage's owner and pulled out a gun. The owner pulled out his own gun and fired at Finley and the other man. Finley was shot in the chest and died. The other man ran away. The shooting has been ruled justified, according to police. There is no longer a discrepancy between Murder Ink's homicide number and the Baltimore Police Department's number.

Tuesday, Sept. 23

9:30 p.m. Derrick Reed, a 15-year-old African-American male, was standing on the front porch of a house in the 2500 block of Aisquith Street near Clifton Park when a man came up, stood in front of the house, and shot Reed once in the stomach. Reed died at an area hospital the next morning at 2:56 a.m.

Friday, Sept. 26

1:15 a.m. An officer was on her way to provide back up to another officer when she was flagged down by a motorist. The motorist said that she saw someone lying on the ground in an alley behind the 5300 block of Cordelia Avenue in Northwest Baltimore. The officer went to the scene and found Jarell Laws, a 17-year-old African-American male who had been shot in the back of the head and was dead. Laws is the 19th juvenile murdered this year.

Sunday, Sept. 28

9:55 p.m. Police found Kevin Rouzer, a 29-year-old African-American man, sitting in the front passenger seat of a minivan in the 1700 block of North Broadway near the Great Blacks in Wax Museum. Rouzer had been shot repeatedly and died at an area hospital at 10:30 p.m.


Levar Shedrick, a 22-year-old African-American man, was arrested July 16 in the 2600 block of Miles Avenue in Remington. Shedrick was charged with the June 19 murder of Donta Gregory, a 32-year-old African-American man. Shedrick, who also goes by the name Justin Banks, had previously been charged with the Jan. 24, 2006 murder of James Wright, a 31-year-old African-American man, but all those charges were dropped.

Sampson Ashby, a 27-year-old African-American man, was arrested July 14 at the Mitchell Courthouse downtown. Ashby was charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Patrice Marable, a 28-year-old African-American woman. According to police, on July 6 Marable got into an argument with Ashby. He allegedly took her cell phone and got in a truck and started to drive away. Marable climbed halfway into the driver's side window to get her phone back, and Ashby allegedly backed up, hitting Marable against a telephone pole, after which Marable fell out of the window and Ashby drove away. She died as a result of her injuries.

On Aug. 11, police charged Davon Madison, an 18-year-old African-American male, and Timothy Crockett, a 24-year-old African-American man, with the June 12 murder of two 17-year-old African-American males, Djuan Anderson and Darrius Harrison. The two young men were found shot repeatedly in a park in the 1500 block of North Bentalou Street in West Baltimore.

Harold Frieson, a 29-year-old African-American man, was arrested in Frederick on Aug. 14 for the murder of Timothy Swann Jr., a 27-year-old African-American man. Swann was dropped off at an area hospital on May 11 with a fatal stab wound to the neck.

Steven Romingo, a 40-year-old African-American man, has been charged with the Sept. 6 murder of Shirley Johnson, a 44-year-old African-American woman. Romingo and Johnson were dating. The two got into an argument, and Romingo allegedly stabbed her 14 times. He was arrested the day of the incident.

On Sept. 9, at 4 a.m. the Regional Warrant Apprehension Task Force found Jamar Anderson, a 19-year-old African-American male, hiding in his girlfriend's closet in Baltimore County. They arrested Anderson for the murder of John Person, a 17-year-old African-American male. Person was shot on Aug. 7 and died 10 days later.
