Friday, Sept. 25

1:15 a.m. Police were called to the 2100 block of Sinclair Lane near Clifton Park Golf Course for an assault. When they arrived they found Shantel Brown, a 31-year-old African-American woman, on the ground in a pool of blood. She was yelling and rolling around. Brown was taken to an area hospital where she died at 3:22 a.m. Police spokesman Donny Moses says the murder is being investigated as a possible domestic-violence incident.

Saturday, Sept. 26

12:10 a.m. In the 1800 block of Dover Street in Southwest Baltimore, Jamal White, a 26-year-old African-American man from the unit block of South Bernice Street, argued with two other men, one of whom pulled out a gun and shot White several times in the upper body. Both men ran away. White was taken to Shock Trauma where he died about an hour later.

Hakeem Horton, a 20-year-old African-American man, was arrested on Sept. 21 for the murder of Montaz Askew, another 20-year-old African-American man. Askew was killed during a shoot-out between two groups in the 1600 block of Normal Avenue on Oct. 9, 2007.

Bagada Dionas, a 23-year-old African-American man, received two life sentences in prison plus an additional 170 years on Sept. 21. Dionas shot and killed Wayne White, a 24-year-old African-American man, and his brother Maurice White, a 22-year-old African-American man, on July 15, 2007. They also shot at Wayne White's girlfriend and baby as they fled the scene in a car; neither were hit. Charlie Stevenson, a 19-year-old African-American man, was also allegedly involved in the murders, but his case is pending; a competency hearing is scheduled for October.

Barry Roberts, a 23-year-old African-American man, was found guilty on Sept. 24 of killing Darius Bruton, an 18-year-old African-American man. Roberts, Bruton, and another man got into a fight on Oct. 12, 2008, in the 4300 block of Davis Avenue. When Roberts whipped out a gun, Bruton and the other man tried to run away, but Bruton was shot in the head. Roberts missed the other man. According to witnesses, Roberts bragged about shooting Bruton.
