Thursday, Jan. 28

5:16 p.m. Police found Kevin Davis, a 32-year-old African-American man, lying in the street next to a van in the 800 block of West Fayette Street near the University of Maryland's Baltimore campus. Davis had been stabbed and a woman was holding a towel to his chest to try to stop the bleeding. He died at a nearby hospital at 5:42 p.m.

A Baltimore City Grand Jury indicted Antoine Patterson, a 29-year-old African-American man, on Jan. 25 for the murder of Michael Davis, a 30-year-old African-American man. According to the State's Attorney's Office, Davis was at a birthday party at a bar in the 4500 block of Erdman Avenue on Feb. 14, 2009. Davis allegedly "touched an unknown female inappropriately." Shortly afterward, he was shot in the head outside the bar.

Dominic Brown, a 29-year-old African-American man, was sentenced to life plus 70 years in prison on Jan. 26 for the murder of Sean Henderson, a 35-year-old African-American man. Henderson was talking to two women outside a bar in the 3200 block of Belair Road on May 4, 2008. One of the women happened to be the mother of Brown's son. Brown came up and started yelling at her. He then pulled out a gun and shot Henderson repeatedly. A second man leaving a nearby store was hit with a stray bullet during the shooting. He survived.

On Jan. 27, Maurice Fullwood, a 32-year-old African-American man, pleaded guilty to the murder of Omar Phillips, a 35-year-old African-American man. Fullwood and Phillips got into an argument on July 19, 2008, inside the Linden Bar and Liquors at 904 W. North Ave. The argument was over the size of a bag of marijuana that Fullwood was selling to Phillips. During the fight, Fullwood whipped out a gun and shot Phillips in the head. Fullwood was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Police arrested Christopher Howard, a 29-year-old Caucasian man, in West Virginia on Jan. 28. Howard was wanted for the Jan. 16, 2009, murder of James Flanary, a 23-year-old Caucasian man. Flanary was attacked by a group of men in the 3900 block of Hanover Street in Brooklyn. They kicked and stabbed him. Two men were previously arrested for Flanary's murder. Charles Gray, a 29-year-old Caucasian man, pleaded guilty to assault on Jan. 7 of this year. He was sentenced to four years in prison. Daniel Dubbs, a 25-year-old Caucasian man, also pleaded guilty to assault on the 7th, but has not yet been sentenced.

On Jan. 29, Matthew Hooper, a 27-year-old African-American man, pleaded guilty to robbing and killing Daniel Hoeck, a 62-year-old Caucasian man. Hoeck was found stabbed to death in his home on Feb. 12, 2009, after family members tried in vain to get in touch with him. According to charging documents, Hooper broke into Hoeck's basement to steal some tools. Hoeck confronted Hooper during the robbery, and Hooper stabbed him.
