11:25 a.m. Timothy Mason, a 35-year-old African-American man, was found dead in his second-floor apartment in the 1400 block of North Dukeland Street in West Baltimore. He had been stabbed repeatedly in the chest.

Thursday, Feb. 25

11:49 p.m. An officer was driving in Sandtown-Winchester and was flagged down in the 1500 block of Fulton Avenue. An injured man pointed to a dark-colored minivan that was pulling away from the curb and said, "That man shot me." As the officer approached the van, a man jumped out of the front passenger-side door and ran. The officer followed as the man ran through the neighborhood, ducking down alleys. Another officer managed to apprehend the suspect, Kivi Kennedy, a 35-year-old African-American from Edgewood. Dejaun Green, a 23-year-old African-American man, was also found shot on the scene. A third shooting victim from the incident made his way to the hospital on his own. Green and the man that yelled for police were taken to a hospital by medics. Green, who was shot in the head, died at 12:29 a.m. The other two victims survived. Kennedy was charged with the shootings. This is the seventh murder in the Western police district this year. It is currently the most murderous district in the city.

The police-involved shooting on Feb. 4 in the 3700 block of Oakmont Avenue has been removed from the BPD's homicide roll.

Levar Shedrick, a 26-year-old African-American man charged with the June 19, 2008, murder of 32-year-old African-American man Donta Gregory, was found not guilty on all counts on Feb. 25. Gregory was shot numerous times in the 400 block of West 28th Street in Remington. Shedrick had previously been charged with the death of James Wright, a 31-year-old African-American man who was found shot in the head behind the GreenMount School in Remington on Jan. 24, 2006. The prior charges against Shedrick (who also goes by the name Justin Banks) were all dropped on April 11, 2008, two months before Gregory was killed.
