Monday, March 22

9:02 p.m. Michael Holt, a 20-year-old African-American man, was shot in an alley behind the 2600 block of Grogan Avenue in Berea. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead half an hour later.

Tuesday, March 23

11:14 p.m. Phillip Holmes, a 22-year-old African-American man, was found lying next to a car with its door open in the 2200 block of Roselawn Avenue in Northeast Baltimore. He had been shot in the head and died at an area hospital just before midnight.

Saturday, March 27

4:35 p.m. Charles Bowman, a 16-year-old African-American male, was shot in the chest in the 2600 block of East Oliver Street. The boy ran toward his home in the 1400 block of Luzerne Avenue, but collapsed. He died at a local hospital at 5:15 p.m. This is the second murder in the Berea neighborhood this week. Bowman is also the second minor killed this month.


The man shot to death on March 21 in the 3400 block of Park Heights Avenue has been identified as Darron Dorsey, a 27-year-old African-American man. The man killed in the police-involved shooting in the 2600 block of McElderry Street that same day was Thomas Miller, a 30-year-old African-American man.

Kwauntre Crudup, a 14-year-old African-American male, was arrested on March 18 for the murder of Kenly Wheeler, a 29-year-old African-American man. Wheeler was found shot to death near an elementary school basketball court on March 3.

Lavar Williams, a 27-year-old African-American man, was indicted by a Baltimore City Grand Jury on March 18 for the murder of Anthony Netzel, a 56-year-old Caucasian man. Williams allegedly punched, kicked, and stomped on Netzel's head at Joe's Bar at 1 S. Highland Ave. on Christmas Eve 2007. Williams died two years later.

On March 22, police arrested Donyea King, a 21-year-old African-American man, for the murder of Phillip Gaddy, a 41-year-old African-American man. Gaddy was shot to death during a robbery on June 24, 2008.

Tavon Johnson, a 26-year-old African-American man, was arrested on March 25 for the murder of Juan Tucker, a 34-year-old African-American man. Tucker was shot numerous times in the 2100 block of Edmondson Avenue on Feb. 3.

Kenyatta McCoy, a 35-year-old African-American man, was indicted for murder and several other counts on March 25. McCoy is charged with shooting John Woodies, a 38-year-old African-American man, on a basketball court in the 4000 block of Old York Road on July 13, 2009.

On March 27, police arrested Antonio Taylor, a 30-year-old African-American man, for the murder of Allen Johnson, a 31-year-old African-American man. Johnson was shot in the head in the driver's seat of an SUV on Nov. 3, 2009.
