Late Night Eating

A Guide to Grabbing Dinner After Your Bedtime

By Bret McCabe | Posted 3/1/2006

We freely admit that sometimes we don’t even consider eating dinner until 10 p.m. That’s a precarious dining time in these parts, well into the uncivilized hours when most kitchens are closed. Inevitably when flipping through the mental Rolodex for post-10 dinner-grabbing that doesn’t come in a takeout container, we hit that ’round-the-clock troika: the PaperMoon Diner, Sip and Bite, and Captain James. Now, we’re not hating on those evergreen eateries, just saying that there’s got to be more to choose from when such gastronomic urges call. And while weekend late-night eating isn’t too hard to come by—some of those options you’ll find listed below—the real Baltimore dining riddle is where to grab a not-sucky meal at 10:30 on a Tuesday. Here’s a list of places that keep their kitchens open when others are sweeping up for the night.
