Sizzlin' Summer Calendar
Our 2009 guide to great fun in the summer sun
Spending your summer vacation entertaining folks who are actually on VACATION could bite the big one if we lived in a boring state out in the middle of landlocked nowhere (nothing personal, Nebraska!). But we live in Maryland, a gorgeous state with a multitude of cared-for state parks and well-tended cultural institutions, plenty of entertainments and interesting people, a long history, diverse waterways, and an amazing coastline. We celebrate our lucky location with this Sizzlin' Summer Calendar and packed it full of choice spots to spend your lazy days and perfect places to party when you're looking to show friends and/or family (or yourself) a good time. From within walking distance to day-trips, you'll find hiking and biking, parks and rec, children's activities and zoos, pools and sand, historic locales, fine arts and performances, drinks and eats indoors and out, festivals, and sports on the pages that follow. You don't have to hop a plane or a train for the next three months to change it up, just appreciate the Land of Pleasant Living.
