Tuesday, July 20
9:38 a.m. Lonnie Howie Jr., a 42-year-old African-American man from Ellicott City, was found lying in the 300 block of North Schroeder Street. He had been stabbed in the chest and died at a nearby hospital. Gilbert Conway, a 34-year-old African-American man, was arrested that day and charged with Howie's murder.
Thursday, July 22
9:47 a.m. Curtis Williams, a 26-year-old African-American man, and a woman were shot in the 4200 block of 10th Street in Brooklyn. Williams was shot repeatedly and fell to the sidewalk. He died before he could be taken to a hospital. The woman was shot in the leg and survived.
Friday, July 23
9:38 p.m. The next day, another double shooting resulted in a death. Two men were shot in the parking lot of a housing complex in the 6900 block of McClean Boulevard near the Perring Parkway Shopping Center. A 30-year-old victim was hit in the torso and died less than an hour later at a local hospital. Police are waiting until his family has been notified of his death to release his name. A 27-year-old victim was also shot and was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but survived. This is the second murder in this block in 2010. Darius Ray, a 20-year-old African-American Marine stationed in Washington, D.C., was stabbed to death at a party in January.
Saturday, July 24
4:26 a.m. Police were sent to check on the welfare of Juan Hernandez, a 28-year-old Hispanic man, in the 500 block of North Lakewood Avenue. Hernandez was inside a residence shot once in the forehead. He was pronounced brain dead at an area hospital at 7:01 p.m.
10:41 p.m. Justin Kendrick, a 24-year-old African-American man, was stabbed in the head and neck in a house in the 300 block of East Lafayette Avenue about three blocks from the Charles Theatre. Kendrick died where he fell.
Sunday, july 25
7 p.m. A 31-year-old African-American man was discovered inside a vehicle in the 1500 block of Lanhorne Court in East Baltimore. He had been shot in the head and was dead. Police have not released the victim's identity.
11:25 p.m. Stephen Pitcairn, a 23-year-old Caucasian man, was robbed and stabbed in the 2600 block of St. Paul Street in Charles Village. He died at a local hospital 40 minutes later. According to a statement released by Johns Hopkins University, the victim was a research technologist at the School of Medicine. This is the fourth murder in Charles Village this year and the second this month.
