Not too many eateries begin life as a speakeasy, but this one did. Kibby's Restaurant and Lounge (3450 Wilkens Ave., [410] 644-8716), after more than 65 years as a Baltimore landmark, still serves up its signature shrimp salad, along with a battery of sandwiches, steaks, seafood, and pastas. The servers are a less traumatic version of Mom—they just want to see that you're happy and well-fed, not run your life. They serve the sauce legally these days, but the glamorous past comes free with your meal.
