Panera Bread Co. (1238 Putty Hill Ave., Towson, [410] 821-9111) may be on the east side of Towson, but it reeks of the West Coast, from the overstuffed-chair corner to relax in with coffee, croissant, and a paper to the Asiago-cheese bread and the health-conscious soups, salads, and sandwiches. There are plenty of choices at this busy, attractive bakery-cum-café, healthy and not, and the sourdough bread alone is worth the visit.
