Exits 41/42

Cove Road / North Point Boulevard, Dundalk / Edgemere

Posted 2/23/2000

If you liked the waterside crab shack Bahama Mama's, you'll love its reincarnation as Mariner's Landing (601 Wise Ave., Dundalk, [410] 477-1261), which retains the beachside location and crab in all its forms and adds a more ambitious menu—country-fried oysters, fried eggplant with herbed cheese and marinara, a superb broiled rockfish. Call to inquire about nightly specials, like Tuesday shrimp and Thursday prime rib.

The daily catch is listed on a board at the New White Swan (8821 Millers Island Road, Sparrows Point, [410] 477-5092), and they'll fix your chosen fish any way you like: baked, broiled, fried, blackened, or stuffed. The bar is the old-fashioned kind, where people actually talk to each other instead of to the TV. The soft-shell-crab sandwich is generous (two crabs!) and the crab balls meaty, with little filler and nice spicing. You can get something besides seafood here, but hey, did you drive all the way out to North Point State Park for a freakin' burger?
