Kent County Office of Tourism, 400 High St., (410) 778-0416,

Chesapeake Farm, Chestertown, (410) 778-0141. The 3,300 acres of this one-of-a-kind farm are devoted to the development and demonstration of "advanced agriculture" techniques. Take a self-guided tour through sunflower fields, deer food plantings, ponds, marshes, and various wildlife habitats to educate yourself on the environmentally-conscious future of agriculture.

Old St. Paul's Church with Tallulah Bankhead's Grave, Chestertown, off Route 20, Sandy Bottom Road, (410) 778-3180, (410) 778-1540. Born in 1902, Tallulah Bankhead began her theatrical life by moving into New York's Algonquin Hotel when she was only 16. Acting and partying in London, Hollywood, and back in New York, she somehow ended up here. We're glad she did.

Waterman's Museum, 20880 Rock Hall Ave., Rock Hall, (410) 778-6697. The waterman of the Chesapeake Bay helped build the Eastern Shore as we know it, so go pay 'em some respect. This museum displays historical boats, a reproduction of a shanty house, and exhibits on crabbing, oystering, and fishing.

Kent County Fair, noon-10 p.m. July 17-18, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. July 19, Kent County Fair Grounds, Tolchester, (410) 778-0416. If you're proud to be an American, you'll go to a county fair this summer. Kent County's has a tractor pull, livestock auction, farm animal shows, food, rides, music, and all the other county fair stuff.

Party on the Bay, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 16, Rock Hall, (410) 778-0141. The big bash is rockin' right on the water at Rock Hall's public bulkhead. There's a crab picking contest, sailing, live music, Eastern Shore food, nautical displays, and of course, arts and crafts.

Chester River Yacht and County Club Log Canoe Regatta, July 12, Chestertown, (410)-778-4377. Finally, the canoe gets its chance to shine. Canoes are always getting the shaft when it comes to regattas, so go out and support them in their moment of glory.

18th Annual Bay to Bay Ride, registration between 7-9 a.m., June 29, Betterton beach front, Betterton, (410) 778-3100, ext 7038. Get yourself psyched for a 50-, 78-, 86-, or 104-mile ride over flat terrain. Sure, you get to see lots of countryside, but the best part is that there are six--count 'em, six--scheduled food stops.

Holy Cow Antiques, 103 Court St., Chestertown, (410) 778-2707. What if when you were in this store, the only thing you were allowed to say was "Holy Cow!" You'd have to walk around and point at stuff and exclaim, "Holy Cow!" That would be great.

Sweet Rick's Candy and Fudge Shop, 5797 Main St., Rock Hall, (410) 639-7700. All you need to know is, they make 60 t0 70 pounds of fudge a week.
