Chesapeake City Historic District, (410) 885-5988. Step back in time in historic Chesapeake City, which is listed on the national and Maryland historic registries.

C&D Canal Museum, Second Street and Bethel Road, Chesapeake City, (410) 885-5621. This museum tracks the history and operation of the canal connecting the Chesapeake and Delaware bays.

107 House-Tory House, Market and Cecil streets, Charlestown, (410) 287-8793. This Federal-period restored colonial home includes a tavern.

Sheriff John F. Dewitt Museum, 135 E. Main St, Elkton, (410) 398-1790. This museum contains military memorabilia from U.S. wars both long ago (the Revolutionary War) and recent (the Gulf War), both noble (World War II) and not so noble (well, the Gulf War).

Sinking Springs Herb Farm, 234 Blair Shore Road, Elkton, (410) 398-5566. Take a guided garden tour on a historic 130-acre farm.

EVENTS

National Marriage Day Celebration, 2 p.m. June 9, Old Town Hall lawn, Elkton, (410) 398-1640. Heterosexual couples in relationships both loving and nonloving, legit or sham, can praise the institution of marriage available to them. Gay couples: Sorry, you've got nothing to celebrate here.

North East Flag Day Ceremony, 6:45 p.m. June 14, North East Community Park, North East, (410) 287-5801. Flag wavers and flag burners unite: The freedoms Old Glory represents for both of you are celebrated today.

Mid-Atlantic Chevelle Show, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 24-25, North East Community Park, North East, (410) 796-7725. This event is billed as the East Coast's largest gathering of 1964-72 Chevelles and El Caminos. Vroom.

Cecil County Fair, July 21-29, Fair Hill Natural Resources Area, Fair Hill, (410) 658-7350. This agriculture fair also offers entertainment. Not that agriculture isn't entertaining.

Susquehanna River Festival and Crab Feast, Aug. 12, Townwide and Marina Park, Port Deposit, (410) 378-4223. All-you-can-eat crabs, an antiques auctions, live entertainment, and walking tours. And all-you-can-eat crabs.
