Between gambling jags, stop by the Atlantic City Historical Museum, on the Garden Pier at the boardwalk and New Jersey Avenue ([609] 347-5839) to see what A.C. was like before the casinos rolled in. For some culture, check out the neighboring Florence Valore Miller Art Center ([609] 347-5837).

Cape May, (609) 884-5508. At the tip of a 30-mile-long peninsula, this pretty seaside town makes for a pleasant ocean stay.

Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, (908) 928-1821. This big theme park includes a water world, a drive-through safari, and thrill rides galore.

Take a guided trolley tour of Cape May's historic district today, then get out and on your feet for a tour of Cape May's Emlen Physick Estate.

Delaware Bay Lighthouse Adventures, June 10 and 24, July 8, 21, and 22, Aug. 18 and 26, Miss Chris Fishing Center, Third Avenue and Wilson Drive, Cape May, (800) 275-4278, (609) 884-5404, $50. Ahoy there mateys! Take a five-hour afternoon cruise up the Delaware Bay on the Cape May Whale Watcher to see not whales but seven lighthouses. Shipboard narration includes lore on fishing, smuggling, and rum-running.

Victorian Fair, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 10, Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., Cape May, (609) 884-5404, (800) 275-4278, free. This traditional Victorian fair features live music, crafts, collectibles, children's activities, and refreshments.
