Best Gay Dive Bar

The Drinkery

205 W. Read St., (410) 225-3100

Posted 9/21/2005

Dark, loud, friendly, and located in an area known to be not so safe after dark, the Drinkery probably isnít your first choice for a beer. But donít be afraid, because avoiding the outskirts of Mount Vernon on account of the occasional mugging or car break-in means they have won, whoever they are. And the Drinkeryís painted white wood plank exterior welcomes ďsailorsĒ and locals alike. A low-key happy hour gives you two for the price of one, but bottoms up, ícuz the spare is placed in front of you whether youíre ready or not. The small space feels divey without being dangerous, smoky without being grungy, and most def, gay without being toooo gay, bitch.
